Yippie--Decades of Blue Collar jobs being exported out of the Us with nary a wimper of mainstream recognition. Media and white collar folks blamed Labor Unions for their selfish bargaining practices. Inflated labor wages were claimed. Damn the Trades and Organized Labor..they are getting what they deserve!!so they said. Ignore them..damned unskilled labor.

Shoe seems to be on the other foot now. Media is publishing articles on how terrible it is that white collar professionals job are being outsourced overseas.

To bad for the white collar crowd I say. They did not support the Blue Collar stiffs (me) then--I could care less for the white collar "professionals" now.

And before folks beat up on Organized Labor.. consider the "professional organizations" that represent white collar folks. AMA.. Bar Association..and so forth are no more than professional unions that further their job interests.

There is a local righty talk show host who loves to beat upon the Teachers Union. This talking head is himself represented and employed by the guidelines of a "contract", same as organized labor works under the guidelines of a contract with their employer, Yet, this person arrogantly challenges the integrity of the teachers union.

I am greatly passionate regarding the lack of concern given to Blue Collar job loss for decades while now we as a nation should be impassioned for the loss of white collar jobs.

Too Bad!!!!!!!

There are two kinds of people in the world. The first group has something bad happen and are happy to see it happen to others too. The other group has something bad happen and never wants to see other people go through it.

Ralph, there are actually three types of folks.

Two are as you so describe.

Third are those who see people experience misfortune, though not affected by the misfortune, and are active to help those who experience misfortune to recover and achieve.

I am actually a member of that third "type" btw.

Nice shot though Ralph.

Sorry Pat but class warfare crap really bugs me. Especially since most of the white collar jobs pay less than good blue collar jobs. Bottom line is we are all Americans and need to stick together and do unto others...

Don't equate union workers with "labor".
Only 12.9% (15.8 million in 2003) of US workers are in labor unions, mostly in law enforcement and various levels of government (local, county, state, or federal).

NY Alaska and Hawaii are the only states with over 25% of the workers belonging to unions. Most states have 5-12% union members in their work force.

Well I been there and done that, twice, one union ,one not. Both companies wanted relief and we gave it to them. 45% paycut at the union shop, and 30% at the non union shop. Both were chopped up and equipment sold off within 6 months. The jobs went where labor was even cheaper-Mexico and Canada. They both used my paycut to finance the move.

The same shlt is happening where I work now. They gave us a 2.9% pay increase this year, then told us that our hours were being cut by 20%, one day a week. Don't know which day of the week that might be though. They will tell us at the end of the day, if we should come in the next day. I got to work Sat and Sunday, will work Monday, will probably be off on Wed, but not for sure.

It seems we set new production records in every possible catagory, at the lowest material and labor cost per unit. So now we are producing 20% too much product.

Blank em all, I'm sick of it, time to become a drunken bum. I'm only making 36% of what I made 15 years ago.
