White lower unit oil

Hello.

I have changed water impeller in the spring. Today when I drained the lower unit oil it was white (i used 80w-90). Have not changed 2 screw plugs for a few seasons (wrapped them with white water tape). Lower unit works well. The boat was kept in the water since spring. What could possibly be the problem? How to efficiently tackle this in the face of budget?

Thank You in advance.

You have water intrusion.

Forget the Teflon tape. Get new gaskets every time you remove the screws. They are a one time use. If still getting water in, time for a reseal.
