white smoke with suzuki df50

Hi,<br />I took boat out after 2 months and Suzuki DF 50 4 stroke 05' model ran fine until I took at max revs for several mins. White smoke then started to come out of exhaust. I stopped and switched engine off. After a few mins started again with some white smoke. Ran at 1000 revs below max for a minute and smoke disappeared as soon as revs put on. Stopped again and some white smoke but less. Did revs 2 more times and smoke lessened to nothing and nothing since although have not taken to max revs again. Water flow fine. Could this be a condensation thing which occurred when motor running hotter or something else. No problems with idling etc. Motor has done about 23 hours. Any advice would be great. Karen

Karen, I have a Suzuki DF140. Same thing happend to me, although not as much as your describing. Sounds like your motor is relativley new. My dealer told me they do that on and off while new as they are broken- in. Mine quit smoking and now runs flawlessly. Brake-in is only for 10 hours, so if this keeps up I would give a call to your dealer.

Thanks for that. Have noticed that smoke is there for a short while on idle when have been running engine at 4500 revs plus for 2 mins or more. It could have a blue tingeto it. Engine runs fine so cannot fathom what problem is.

Wonder if I should change oil as motor was sat unused for nearly 5 months through winter without winterisation.

Bingo ! You might have some moisture in the oil. It's not uncommon. No matter how sealed and covered your boat is, over some time , at least SOME moisture will find it's way in there. Have fun on the water this summer ! Let us know if things still aren't working out. Cheers!

I might be wrong but check your oil level .....

HI,<br />Oil level is fine so will try an oil change as manual says an oil change should be done every 6 months anyway. As I say engine runs fine otherwise. Thanks for the help.Regards Karen
