This is a C&P of a tidbit I found,........
Dear Friends:

Many years ago in Seattle, two wonderful neighbors, Elliott and Patty Roosevelt came to my home to swim on a regular basis. They were a great couple full of laughter and stories that today I continue to marvel at. Both are now deceased, but their stories remain. During the years of our friendship we had many, many discussions about his parents (President Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt) and how his father and mother never intended for the Social Security and Welfare programs to turn out the way they ae today. Elliott used to say that if his mother returned to earth and saw what the politicians had done to their programs she would have burned all of them in hell.

Here is a story I received today regarding the Social Security Program and I immediately thought of Elliott's comments. Hope you will read this and think about it. Margaret

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary,

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual incomesinto the Program,

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

4.) That the money the participants put into the independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,

5.) That the annuity payments to theretirees would never be taxed as income.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away," you may be interested in the following:
--------------------
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent "Trust" fund and put it into the General fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.
--------------------
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.
--------------------
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the "tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S. -------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! -------------------

Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violation of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is, uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't the Truth........
Most folks my age (born 1970) that I talk to know SS is a pretty misconf*%#ulated program. I don't see it ever being fixed with so many boomers who have planned on it for some/most of their retirement needs.

I thought we were only guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I would be fine with those three and stop the government from re-distributing wealth like they did in the Soviet Union (that worked out well).

The socialists can assault me now. I'll be out barbecueing some puppies.

I think SS can be fixed, but only by Congressmen and Congresswomen who aren't planning to run for reelection.

1. Reduce the rate of the FICA tax and index it to to the economy.

2. Tax all income, not just wages and salary, but only the first X dollars. Index X dollars to the economy.

3. Tax only supplemental income of retirees, not SS annuities.

4. Continue to index SS annuities to the economy.

I think if they make those changes they wont need to change anything else.

My, my.....rodbolt...let me buy you a drink.
You sir are free of socialist dreams that are destroying this country. On the flip-side you have also departed from the denial and ranks of the "ditto heads".
Your debate now contains truth.

5. Return all of my money stollen from me. Allow me to completely "opt out" of the corrupt and fraudulent system. Allow me to assume any and all responsibilty for that choice.
As an American, I demand the freedom not to be dependent on anyone.

Why? Because every time it was tried, the Dem's cried foul so loud, with the help of a media-in their pocket, that NOBODY could stand the pressure. You remember all the ads, "forcing mom to eat dogfood", etc. To add to that, it's YOUR responsibilty to feed mom, not the governments.

Does anyone remember the ad: "This isn't your fathers Oldsmobile"? Well, guess what, this isn't your fathers Democratic Party either.

I have said this before, but it always rings true. Those that accuse you of doing something, the loudest, are doing the same thing even more so.

Re: Who Dunnit,.??

In the 1950's, Nikita Khrushchev said the USSR would conquer the U.S. without firing a shot. The only way to do that is from within. If you wanted to take over our government, you would need to be a part of it. Would you start a new political party? No. Not one of the many political parties other than the Democrats or Republicans, have had any great or even substantial success. The best and easiest way is to infiltrate an established party, and rise to the top. Get enough like minded people in that party, and a few in the opposing party as well, and you get your agenda pushed into law.

If you want to know which political party the communists have infiltrated, look at the party with the closest ties to the educators of your children. When you want the people to believe the way you do, you start early, you repeat often, and in no time you have a whole generation of brainwashed citizens more than willing to do your bidding. Why are today's children dumber than an icecube? Teacher incompetence, classroom overcrowding, old schools? No. It's a plan designed to retard our mental growth. Students that excel in school are actually admonished because it makes the dumb ones "feel bad" and hurts their self esteem. B.S.

How many of you believe we live in a "free" society? A show of hands. Sorry folks, taint so. You believe you "own" your home? Wrong! You just pay taxes on property to fill the treasury. You have city, county, state, and federal governments telling you what you can and cannot do with it. Now, if those governments can get someone to make "better use" of it, they will take it away, and give it to someone who will build something that generates a higher tax revenue. You know the fee you pay for improvements on your home? Do think that paltry sum means anything to them? No. But the improvements mean they can increase your taxes on the increased value of said home. You are just a caretaker, and paying to be one.

Freedom of speech? What a joke. Say something that offends someone, and you can be shipped off to sensitivity training or jail.

I'll get off my soapbox for now, but know this. I HATE democrats, and I ain't too happy with the Republicans either.

Dan

Re: Who Dunnit,.??

Ill stick with my story. no one has had the political balls to change the system.
several times in the past 40 years both parties have been in control. right now the rhubs got it. they have had it what 6 years or so nopw? aint no change in the weather baby.
after 6 years of control one party CANNOT plame the past administration. just dont wash.
so ill stick with the no balls theory. myself I believe a certain amount of SS as a safty net needs to be done. but not as a blanket retirement package. same with the welfare system it needs a total overhaul and has for decades but it aint happened. why you ask? its political suicide and both parties know it. so they lip it and mouth it and postulate on the podium but nothing changes except the amount of cash donated.
and we have not even started on the Veterans Administration that is so wonderful under the past 6 years. :)
or the previous admin either. not blaming anyone admin. all have neglected it. BOTH parties.
nothing will change until we OUT all carreer politics. life term limits on senate, congress and the house. 2 terms in a lifetime and your outta there. and eliminate any form of retirement for everyone on the hill. its public service not a retirement position. maybe then things would change.
