got rid of my 32 footer and bought a little 17 foot bow rider Glastron sx 175
anyway checked it over thoroughly water tested it checked oils etc its only a cheap boat it ran well
seemed to idle ok.........
so brought it home gave it a real good clean up and real happy with my work, now for the fun part
rang my regular mechanic, been using him for years. arranged to take it to his place all good
next day i get a call got some bad news he says, he thought the idle was a little rough so he did a compression test and the number 4 cylinder has NO compression, dam.
so he's taken the head off but other than rust around the valves on that cylinder can't see anything wrong, the manifold looks ok
so hes sending the head off the a machine shop to see what they think, guess no boating this weekend
the previous owner had the boat on one of these drive up onto dry jetties you know the ones with nylon slides, so i wonder if backing off it has got a mouth full of water, because as it comes off the jetty you have to power up to get off then throttle back quickly so as not to back into something
probably never know, but i do know i shoulda paid the money to get a qualified guy look her over.
