heres the facts
vp 280/ chrsler 360 motor.
The goal . To remove chrsler and put new chev 350 in

I have taken the top off the leg to get at the 6 bolt that hold the coupler in. The bolt are so rusted they just round off. with almost no effert. There toast.

So try to remove bell housing from motor. Bell housing is free from the block. But no mater what we do it the motor aint coming free. I cant see any rear motor mounts....What can i do

Corrosion is a wonderful thing isn't it.

If you are looking for an easy answer, sorry, there isn't one. Had one like that with a Ford a couple of years ago. Ended up cutting the heads off the 6 bolts, then drilling and cutting the clamp ring (item 16 in the link below) until all the pieces were gone, then remove the engine normally with the flywheel cover still attached to the engine.
Doesn't matter if you damage the flywheel cover, it won't fit a Chevy anyway. But, DO NOT damage transom shield.

Re: Why cant I get my motor out

Hi Don thanks for the reply. Tell me what you think of this idea.
I really dont want to get into those bolts on the leg. (big can of worms)
with that kind of corrosion on the bolts do think its ok just to leave it.
My plan is to cut a large hole in the bell housing. Then cut the shaft off with a recip saw.
Also Don I cant see a rear motor mount anywhere back there Am i missing something

The flywheel housing IS the rear engine mount.
