I have a customer who invented and patented disposable latex gloves. He tried to sell them in supermarkets without any success. One day, while in college, he was contacted by an individual who was interested in his patent. I don't remember the exact amount he sold the patent for(it was in the hundreds or low thousands). The buyer was 3M! The rest is history. My customer is now retired and did well for himself in the eeeeevil oil industry but his story is a good example of what Ralph stated. The other 95% is marketing.

anyone that grew up watching Romper Room remembers those boxcars!

and as far as getting it out there, Thomas Alva Edison said it best

Genius is one percent inspiration, 99% perspiration

and he would know!

MY mother in law was a registered nurse for 30+
years dealing with gereatrics. lots of her patients
had the oxygen tubes that go around your ears
(cannula). long term wear of this caused pressure
sores on peoples ears, so she used to make little
pads for her patients ears so they were more
comfortable. the other nurses were so impressed
and one told her; "you should patent it"... she did.
right now we are making them by hand and marketing
ourselfs to convelscent homes and even have a few
sales with the VA... takes a lot of time and effort
to get a new project of the ground, but persistance
breaks resistance ;)

patent attys are not cheap. took a few grand just
to get the patent.
we'll see what happens in the future.

http://www.marketlaunchers.com/romed.html

She should be trying to cut a deal with a big medical supply company like Baxter.
