Why do my motors exhibit similar behaviour?

My old '54 7.5 hp rude, my Lawn Boy 19(an OMC product) and my new to me 1977 7.5 hp Merc all exhibit the same behaviour.

With the outboards, get to the fishing hole. Fish. Takes many, many pulls to restart. Usually start first or second pull when cold. Will restart easily in first 15 minutes at fishing hole.

My Lawnboy starts first pull after the long winter.

I mow the lawn. Stop for a beer. That's it. Hard to restart. Many pulls later.

All motors have fresh plugs, idle nicely have been decarbed etc. etc.

I'm thinking spark, stator etc.

Now I'm thinking, this is too common.

Ideas?

I really only care about the Merc now. Check my Merc post.

Tx.

Joe

Re: Why do my motors exhibit similar behaviour?

Your LawnBoy cools off to ambient temperature very quickly. It has a primer bulb so give it one or two pumps and it will fire right up. If its a newer one with a throttle control, move that all the way up to the choke position. Your outboards are the same. Pull it twice. If it doesn't start, its asking for a choke and a little throttle. Two-strokes are cold blooded and need a little extra fuel after they've cooled a bit.
