I read many post with recommandation to use higher test gasoline (89-91) with Force motors only. why Force and not Mercs or Omc ?

I have personaly been recommended to use higher grade with any motors due to lowering of quality of most gasoline.

Tx

I always use mid-grade fuel in my outboards
because i have no faith in the quality of
regular.
i have even let mid-grade sit over the winter
and the motors still fire up, no problem.

There is ZERO advantage to using 89 or higher octane gas in a recreational 2 stroke outboard.

Mid "grade" and high "grade" are NOT higher quality fuels than 87 octane unleaded regular. Thery simply allow compression ratios that are not approached in 2 stroke engines. The additives that allow that are definitely NOT good for 2 stroke engines.

Use the cheap stuff.
And use a fuel stabilizer no matter what gas you use.

JB absolutely hit the nail on the head. "Supreme" isn't supreme quality, it all comes from the same pipe, how would it be better? What, it comes in on a shinier truck? With armorall on the tires?

Only additives make it "better", and like JB said they aren't additives friendly to 2 stroke outboards.

We did have a valve stick on my go-cart when I was little from using cheap gas. We used premium in it after that and never had a problem. That was a 5hp Briggs though, not an outboard.

Most midgrade and premium gas is made so with ethanol. Oil mixes well with gas, but poorly with alcohol. Especially if water gets in the tank. Considering where one operates a boat, that's just about a certainty.

Ive never had a problem with regular fuel.
If your in the time of season where you run your boat often.
Use straight gas, if you use your boat for infrequent periods of time. Use seafoam or sabil with the fuel.
Premium fuel works better in a four stroke like that of a car engine.

I agree to most of the above, however premium fuels are advertised to have added cleaners in them to keep things running smoother(up here in Canada anyway).

The same cleanliness can be obtained by adding some carb-injector cleaner at the beginning of the season. I will remove some of the varnish that may have happened over winter.

Cheap gas in everything I own with some seafoam in it. Only thing I use high grade is in Mammas HO Turbo PT Cruiser. Its computer shuts the timing down right away and mileage suffers as well as performance.
