Hello folks. Getting ready to take this new to me Capri 1400 with a force out on the lake for the first time. I had it on muffs and and was pumping water pretty good out of exhaust but I notice water was coming out other the back side of my as well. Is this anything I should be worring about? Iran out of time today I was going to unscrew the toncovers to see if I can find out were it's coming from

Check the rubber exhaust hose to be sure it isn't torn and leaking water into the leg. It should go from the power head to the exhaust port on the back of the leg where water is coming out at thr rear of the engine.

Try taking the lower unit off and see if the water tube is loose?
Or the pumps not installed right?

Thanks for the input guys. I removed the lower cover and the leak was coning out of the exhaust cover. When I removed the cover I notice that the gasket wasn't aligned right at the bottom. I accidentally ripped when I was taking it off. I put it back on with silicone and we'll see if it leaks after it cures.

If it doesn't leak do you guys think it will be all right to boat on the lake for the first time week. I ordered the gasket

If not sealed properly you won't get proper water to the engine to cool it. I wouldn't chance it...

Thanks for the warning Dave. It certainly isn't worth blowing the engine for not replacing 3.00 gasket. Its doesn't leak anymore on muffs but WOT is a whole different test. I wonder if my local dealer has these in stock?

This would not hurt the engine. All water that comes through the exhaust "nose" has already passed through the engine.
If the gasket is N/A you can make one by yourself from a piece of gasket material.

So that gasket is basically to make sure the water has a concentrated exit through the hole?
