I have a 1994 Fourwinns Sundowner. I have had a surveyor and a mechanic look at the boat and the transom is solid w/ low moisture readings. The mechanic also said the outdrive and transom are in very good condition. (its the omc outdrive with the volvo parts).

So....it seems as all is good. But what if a little moisture is just starting to get at the transom core (but not enough to show water in the bilge)

Wouldn't it be smart to add 5200 or ? around the outdrive? (especially if its going to sit in the water for the summer)

thoughts..............

(btw I realize that this can get posted in a few areas)

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... A Better question would be Why caulk 'round the outdrive,...

It's a gasketed installation already, 'n caulkin' don't do squat, unless it's 'tween the pieces, rather than slathered 'round the outside of said pieces,...
