If man made it,man can break it.Passwords are nothing but detterents like locks on doors. They need to be used but a real hacker could care less. The level of threat determines the amount of security you require. Usually a simple password is all that's required to keep the neighbors out.
post your router's make,model#...I will then post instructions on how to secure your router.
No offense intended to anyone, but the irony of an online Forum topic about wireless security, and then an unknown net acquaintance suggesting that you let him into your computer to solve the security threat is just too much for me to leave alone. I know you're trying to help, but that's funny right there. We just need a newbie post asking for banking informationthere is a program called Teamviewer which is very easy to install and I can remotely hook to your computer and lock it for ya,while you watch and learn.

"Why Your Wi-Fi Needs a Password!"
OK, so how do you do that? I don't even know where to begin. I've had concerns about this in a vague way but see why it might be a good idea.
If you do a google search on "wireless network security", you'll find some easy to understand and helpful articles to get you started.
Yup, will do that too. I will check instructions that may be posted here, but I don't turn my computer over unless I know who I am turning it over to.
Thanks and no offence intended to CobiaXL, but I would take advantage of the first part of your offer.

So if I asked you a question on how could I make bike riding safer, would you answer me with "walk instead" as your advice?Just use the wired routers and don't worry about it....its just a piece of CAT5 cable.....
