Wierd problem 115 Johnson

I just wanted to give you guys an update on a wierd problem that I had with a 1981 115 Johnson. I was having multiple electrical problems, I found out that the powerpack was bad and two of the coils were bad. I also had the carbs rebuilt. Had the engine running great, until I put the cover on it. The engine would idle down with the cover on, and idle back up with the cover off. I found out that the coil was arcing to the latch that holds the cover on the motor. This almost looks like a design flaw with the old coils as they sit about 1/16" away from the cover latch. Anyway, I replaced all of the coils, (the new coils are designed to where they do not sit so close to the latch), and now it works fine.<br />I hope this helps someone with a similar problem.<br />And again, thanks guys for all of the help you have provided over the years.
