Well, I found out today that my wife has to have a historectomy. Man this comes as a shock. Weve been married for 15 years now and we have two young boys,...but boy does this suck. Sometimes feel as though I take her for granted, but boy she is the greatest. We have never had anything like this happen to us before, so we are both really nervous. We were 99% sure we were done having kids, but thats not the issue now. I'm sittin here at work going nuts thinking about it, so I just thought I would share it with you guys.....kinda eases the pain a little. I gotta try to keep my head up for my wife and kids.
Thanks guys for listening, and if you think about it, maybe say a prayer for my wife......The surgery is scheduled for 6/2/03 at 7:30 est.
(I know I am fairly new to this site, but I feel as though I really know some of you guys......and everyone has been great......Thanks for that).

Re: Wife's surgery

My thoughts and prayers will be with you, friend. I know the feeling well. My wife had to undergo some unplanned surgery and the thought of being with out her really opened my eyes. Your wife will be fine. Just make sure she takes her pills after the surgery. Things get dicey if they don't. Take care of her my friend.

A bit of a silver lining, EF.

My Mom, one sister and a girlfriend had hysterectomies. They all worried about it, but all were much healthier, happier women afterward.

It is an ill wind that blows no good.

Good luck to you and your spouse. :)

My wife had the sams operation when she was 24 that was 28 years ago. she will have mood swings so talk to the DR. by himself and let him explane to you what to expect. T he wife will feel a lot better when she is over the surgery right now she is tired all the time i bet and cranky to. but phys. she will feel better and there are other perks to it . but i'll let you figure those out. My wife and i will say a prayer for her and the family you can bet on that.
GOD'S speed to you all

Re: Wife's surgery

Ease off on yerself carphunter. Things will be just fine. My wife went through the same thing about 5 or 6 years ago. We both were a little scared even though the surgery is a common one. A few weeks to get back on her feet and she was great. Just think of it this way, the baby pen is being turned into a play pen. :D :D

My best wishes and hopes for your missus carphunter. Keep us uptodate on what's happening.

Jim

Re: Wife's surgery

I will be off work for a short while, and probably a little preoccupied to spend too much time on this forum, but I would like to thank you guys for the kind expressions of sympathy and encouragement. You know, I have spent some time on different chat rooms, and other forums, and they don't compare to this one. I guess we all have that special "outdoorsman" bond or something.

Now, I don't want to get too corny, (don't want to ruin my "manly" image), but its wierd that I have never "met" some of you guys, but sure consider you my friends.

I will try to check back in when I can, and hopefully in a short while I will be back to posting my idiotic threads.

Thanks guys for makin this "ol country boy feel a little bit better. :)

My ex had the same operation 8 years ago, she had the hysterectomy but I think they gave her a complimentary lobotomy too. If you opt out of the latter, everything will be fine :)

Re: Wife's surgery

No surgery is easy. It just brings our mortal nature out in the open. Stay close to God (or your higher power), and cherish the time he gives us together. My wife also has just gotten out of surgery to have polyps removed from her sinuses, and I recently underwent back surgery, and wrist surgery.
My prayers, of course, are with your wife, for a speedy recovery.

Re: Wife's surgery

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. It is nice to hear that similar surgeries have turned out so well. Nice to know there are so many good people out there. :)
The same goes for you guys, if ever I can help anyone with anything, just say the word. If anyone needs to be pointed in the right direction for a fishing hot-spot here in southern Indiana, just ask.

I apologize for being so dramatic guys, hopefully everything will turn out alright, and I will be back to posting my usual nonsense.

Gotta go brothers, it will be a few days before I can check back, so somebody has to fill in for me and post some really stupid jokes. :D

Thanks again everyone....I will never forget your kindness.

Re: Wife's surgery

My thoughts are with you and your wife Carphunter. Everything will be fine. I know of three people that have had the same surgery. Your wife may need some hormone therapy to keep things on an even keel, but it is not a problem. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hey Carpy, head up dude! All will be well and it is a silver lining to see what we have - so we don't take it for granted. Give her lots of love and support, she may really need it to deal with the mental aspect. Should be no problem physically.

However, you can sure bet that me and mine will be aprayin' for ya! God bless you, the missus, and the kids! Have been praying for you all morning and will continue through out the next few days. Keep us posted when you get the chance - but take care of your wife more than worrying 'bout us!

Re: Wife's surgery

Carpy, hope all goes well today with the surgery. With the well wishes and prayers from this forum I'm convinced that things will go smoothly.

I haven't had the surgery myself, but every single woman I know who has says its the best thing they ever did and wished they'd done it sooner. Just stay supportive and help around the house and she'll be back to normal in no time.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mate.

Re: Wife's surgery

Well guys and gals, I'm back!
First of all I would like to tell everyone that the surgery went great, and mommy got to come home on thursday morning. She is very sore, and she's moving pretty slow, but everything looks like it is gonna be ok. I guess what scared me the most was when they did the biopsy, (don't know if I spelled that right), we were worried to death that they might find something cancerous, which they didn't. I stayed right by her side the whole time, (other than the actual surgery). She is one tough cookie. She's got a belly full of stiches and staples, but the incision looks good.
The boys took it pretty hard, and so did 'ol dad, but luckily we had many family members present, which helped ease the pain. Now it is up to me to get her feeling better now that she is home.
Second of all, I would like to thank everyone who showed their support. I believe that all of the prayers from everyone are what helped us through this difficult time. The response was overwhelming. There are just too many people to thank. I have said this before, and I will say it again, I will n e v e r forget everyone's kindness.

Thank you all. :)
