Will the 25a rectifier from radio shack work on my 1994 force 120? Or do I need to buy a bigger one?

Re: will 25a rectifier work on 94 force 120?

According to my manual (generic) the 1994 120HP came with a 9.0 Amps rectifier/regulator while the 95 and later came with a 14.0 amps rectifier/regulator. Note the word regulator which could mean one or two components.

Based on the wiring diagram it shows as a single component meaning the rectifier has a built in regulator. So the radioshack unit will not be an appropriate replacement since it does not come with the regulator. The size 25 amps is more than enough but it does not have a regulator. Of course, you can always add a separate regulator with little mod.

Can I buy a cheap one or is there a link to the mod? Thanks. The one that is on there now looks like a rectifier. Do not see anything that looks like a regulator...
