Any chance that the ignition parts are interchangeable on my 1972 100hp 100ESL72 with a 1973 135hp ...(don't know the model#) ?
Got a chance to pick one up that "runs good" with controls for next to nothin'.

The two ignition systems have little similarity. The biggest problem is that the crankcase head assembly (upper crank bearing head assy) changed in 1973. You can't fit the 73 timer base and stator on the 72. You might be able to swap that head assembly from a 73. It's also likely that the 72 won't have the correct tapped holes in the block to attach the 73 ingition components.

Totally different systems, including crankshaft and flywheel. And everything else. Forget it.
