Will a 1996 powerhead fit a 2000 merc ?

I found a good 1996 2.5l powerhead to replace my bad 2000 2.5 150hp XR6.<br /><br />Does anybody know if it will fit on middle section without problems ?<br /><br />Thanks

Valv, be patient... Hopefully someone will chime in here that knows for sure. I am "pretty sure" it is the same. I am curious about the exhaust..... Come on.... Someone post that KNOWS..

Exhaust was my same preoccupation.<br /><br />I think I found answer looking up center section to powerhead gasket part #, and center section part # they are same for 2000 and 1995, so I believe it should bolt right on it with no problems.
