I would appreciate some advice here. I'm planning on restoring a 20ft Pacemaker which has a 3.0lt OMC Cobra in it which has been sitting around. Thought about going through the process of getting it going then started looking around for a reasonably priced set up. Came across a AD31P-A with a 290 DPDI drive. After talking to the guy on the phone I believe he is genuine it sounds like it would be a great engine to buy. Reliability and cost, a steal at 5 grand Australian. I was pretty keen on the idea then I started to think about weight difference. The OMC at a guess weighs around 5-600 pounds drive and engine, the volvo weighs 977 pounds all up. Is possible to install it or is it just too heavy?

What is the weight capacity of the boat? Is there a plate listing it? I'd guess that adding 500 lbs to the stern is going to change the trim of the boat significantly. Its the same issue but more so that people run into with putting big 4 stroke OBs on the transoms of small boats designed for 2 strokes that weigh about 100-125 lbs less. What you are talking about is a much bigger difference. Was the boat available with bigger engines like the GM 4.3 V-6 and the 305/350 V-8s? They both weigh a lot more than the 4 cyl engine.

Not to sure on this one. I'm away at work so I'm unable to check.
