Reason being, it is designed to desolve contaminants....not a bad thing, until you consider that most contaminants are plastic/rubber particulate, and this cleaner eats it up.But at the same time, it is munching on the rubber fuel lines, fuel pump diaphram, check valves and float (if plastic).<br />The kits are cheap, providing you don't have a monster merc with three carbs (3 times 30 buks aint cheap).<br /><br />I would drop the bowls while they are still mounted,or at least loosen them enough top drain them. Water and contaminants will collect in them, if you can physically do that (don't know what kinda motor this is).<br />I would then install a clear auto type inline fuel filter with replaceable elements.<br /><br />Try check for water at the bottom of the tanks (if you can see in there).<br />But avoid the cleaner<br />.
