I think my carburetors might be a little dirty can I use a gas treatment like STP gas treatment in 2 cycle outboard engine gas?

Welcome to iboats.com.

I would steer-clear of that. Reason being, it is designed to desolve contaminants....not a bad thing, until you consider that most contaminants are plastic/rubber particulate, and this cleaner eats it up.But at the same time, it is munching on the rubber fuel lines, fuel pump diaphram, check valves and float (if plastic).
The kits are cheap, providing you don't have a monster merc with three carbs (3 times 30 buks aint cheap).

I would drop the bowls while they are still mounted,or at least loosen them enough top drain them. Water and contaminants will collect in them, if you can physically do that (don't know what kinda motor this is).
I would then install a clear auto type inline fuel filter with replaceable elements.

Try check for water at the bottom of the tanks (if you can see in there).
But avoid the cleaner
.

The engine is a 1980
Evinrude 60 hp two 2 cylinder's I been running a lot lately (about 150 miles in the last month) just set the timing advance to specs yesterday if it don't run better i might think about taking apart the carburetors and maybe get a kit for them. I also going replace the plugs tomorrow.

Go to NAPA or another auto parts store and get a can of SEAFOAM, does a grest job, but if they have crud in them, take apart and clean first.

I have used Marvel Mystery Oil in mine and had good success. Ultimatley 12footer is right. Rebuild the carb(s) and save your self the trouble. Using the carb cleaner fuel conditioner will help a minor problem.

John
