Hello, trying to help a buddy get his boat back on the water. It's a 89 Bluewater with an Alpha Gen1 that has a hole in it. I found a drive online, seller doesnt know much about it except its from a 470. Will this bolt up and are the input shafts, yoke same length? Thanks in advance!

Should be perfect fit. I do not remember if there was a yoke shaft length difference over the Alpha 1 years, but he can always take the yoke off the old drive and install on the new drive. Gear ratio will be fine.

All Alpha style drives made after 1982 have the same yoke length.

Depending on the ratio used with the V6, you may need a prop change. The 470s used a 1.84:1 drive ratio, and some V6s used the same, and some used 1.65:1...

Just make sure the 'new' drive is 1985 or later. 1982 to 1984 used the old MC1 lower (with the pre load pin) which wasn't as good as the MR/Alpha One lower....

Thanks for the info guys! I'm not sure the year of the new drive or if it has a pre load pin. We're planning to use the whole drive as the old one is toast

Well, when you get it, do a FULL service on it. Then record all the relevant data (serial number, MC1 or Alpha One lower unit. That's needed for future, when the water pump base needs replacing), and check the water pocket cover... Most important that last one...
