will another outdrive work on my boat

I have an 87 bayliner with a 305 5.0 omc 185hp outdrive will an omc outdrive off a 350 5.7 260hp work with my motor

Other that gear ratio I believe there is no difference.

ok ty i can get two rebuilt outdrives that came off a 5.7 350 260hp for 1200 and i hope they will fit my 305 5.0

The standard gear ratio for a 5.7 is 21:16 and the standard gear ratio for a 5.0 is 21:18.
Now that isn't to say that someone didn't change the gear ratio on a used drive that you would buy.
