With known issues of bravo 3 corrosion of the lower unit and little or no help from mercruiser. I was wondering if a bravo 2 lower unit will bolt up directly to the bravo three upper unit. Understanding less performance out of the hole but more top end is likely would be way better than watching my outdrive errode year after year.

Thanks!

Should be no problem .. What year? the early ones had a two peice upper housing (cavitation plate) But I dont think thatll make a difference.Did you have readins done on your hull potential? There are alot of factors that will make one unit corrode more than others. I know the b3 has to much stainless in the props but weve succesfully repaired some with additional anodes. You can have a boat down the dock whos shorepower isnt hooked up properly affect the corrosion on your boat. Look for stray current. Also do you have galvanic isolators?

Mine aren't to bad right now. EXCEPT I only have 65 hours on them. I think they had the aluminum anodes from the factory one them and I am in freshwater in michigan. I have changed the anodes to the magnesiums. I am just looking down the road. These pair are year 2000's.

Will I need a standard and counter rotating Bravo 2 lower case? I have twin engines.

A bravo will run in either direction with out problem. It is a cone clutch drive which means the shifting is done in the upper unit instead of lower. There is no difference (BEARING WISE) between fwd and reverse. Thats the difference in alpha counter rotating. bearing load.are you having corrosion problems now? Merc has a 5 year corrosion warranty, but youll have to get a dealer involved.

Yes. I have a corrosion problem right now. The skag on the edges and behind where the rear prop seats. I was under the impression that the warranty was only 3 years. These are 2000's. So I didn't go any further.
Please advise me if I am wrong on this?!
Thanks
PN

Double check it I think its five years. With all the bad PR Id give merc a call and talk to customer service. Its worth a try, most of there techs are real nice guys and will go overboard to help. At least thats been my xperience with them.D
