Will Collinite 885 keep my gel coat from fading?

I spent most of this month wet sanding and compounding my gel coat out to a shine. The color came back and the shine came out good, but not like new. I put 1 coat of 885 on it, and plan to do one more. But last year nufinish did not prevent a small section from fading back out.

I want to stress the correct terminology, my gel coat is fading, but still had a shine. It is not turning to chalk like other boats.

Price is of no concern, I simply will not do this job again, and will not have the budget to do a repaint. I need to do whatever to keep this gel coat from going bad again.

Ayuh,... The ONLY way to completely stop fading, is to never let the Sun shine on it....

gellcoat will fad over time due to uv light.

with a good wet sanding and compound polishing....you will re finish the gellcoat.

back to new.....a good gellcoat polish will help....but again.,..over time....another 5 years...it will happen again.

things like nufinish, are what i like to call snake oil....

for gellcoat....there is no miracle cure.

Most of the seasoned captains I have met over the years swear by collinite. I have yet to use it due to reasons out of my control.
