i have a evinrude 1998 115 cross flow motor the block is shot. I found a nice 90 hp block unsure of the year but if i set the two blocks next to each other they look identical other than the 90 has the flat back and the 115 bubble back. Will the crank and rods from the 115 fit the 90? and will the 90 block fit on the midsection??

If you're sure it's a 90 and they look the same it'll work. The things to look at are;

1- the size of the center main bearing. If it's smaller (about 1/2 the size) then you're probably done. If it's the same then the mounting bolt pattern will be the same.

2- the mounting bosses where the power pack and other electrical components bolt on. If they aren't exactly the same look carefully at which ones are used with your components on your existing block. Some blocks have more than that's needed for some components. If a boss or two are missing on the donor block look carefully and see if you can work around that, probably so.

What's so bad about your block that it can't be fixed?
