I have a 2007 Four Winns H240 with the 5.7L Fuel injected motor. While I was working on my boat I made a huge mistake and hooked one of my batteries up backwards (Yes I know, very stupid) and I fried the wiring from the starter to the alternator, along with about 20 wires that got melted (I have replaced all of the wires that were melted). I also replaced the starter and the alternator. My problem is the boat will crank over, but it will not start. I can hear the electric fuel pump, but no spark. Question, has anyone had a similar problem and could help direct me as to what sensor or relay or computer may be causing the engine not to start? Please let me know if you have any recommendations. I have ordered a shop manual so I hope to be able to test the senors etc. Thanks in advance for your constructive comments and suggestions.

First thing I would do is shoot a little starting fluid in it and see if it fires. This will narrow it down to a fuel problem or ignition and let you know where you should start troubleshooting.

2007-FourWinnsH240[/B];n10750485]Is there anyway to check the ECM to see if it is damaged before I purchase a new one?

Im going through something similar right now. Found a blown 40 amp trim fuse and have a no start condition. After generic troubleshooting I shipped my ECM off to OBD Diagnostics in California. They called me the next day and said that it was completely fried and they could sell me a new one. Replacements from them are in the $1300-$1800 range. They also advised that they can repair them if the damage isnt too bad.

Thank you all for the information. I did check the battery and it is ok. I also tried to start it with the #1 battery and the same, crank but no start. I will verify with starting fluid tonight and make sure that it is an ignition/spark issue and not a fuel problem. Thanks for the ECM information. After verification of other sensors and fuses then I will have to send the computer for diagnostics.
