will the power head swap over

I have an 1982 35 HP Johnson with bad compression 35psi each. There is a 1989 40hp evinrude that has a shot lower unit and a good powerhead compression 130psi each. Q]. Is it possible to swap the power heads or swap the lower units and get one good motor. Thanks for all the help you all give here. It has saved me big bucks this last year or so.

I don't have any idea if that swap will work, sorry.

You could always lookup both the model numbers on BRP (or any site that has exploded views of the motors).... and see if it looks like it might work.

Seems to me it would be a lot simpler to check, then replace the head gasket on the 35, Spar.

That is very likely to be the problem causing both cylinders to be that low in psi, but still equal.
