Hey guys,

I think I have a deal on a spare prop. The prop that came with my boat is a Merc 13.5 x 23, and I'm looking for a nice, cheap spare. I find this one online:

H
e'll sell it to me for $65, and it's a 13 x 19. Obviously it's not the optimal pitch, but my thinking is that it would serve well as a spare. Will this fit my Alpha outdrive with no problems? '

Thanks!

Ayuh,.... While it'll bolt on, it'll ventilate Badly...

It's too small, it's an Outboard prop...

Not worth it if it doesn't fit right. It might get you home but you would have to go slow or it will just spin and you will not no where because the exhaust will go over the prop. I see them cheaper for the correct ones anyway. I picked up a new quicksilver for $40 on CL. If it is just a spare to get you home then the pitch is not the super important. If you want a spare to run full time in case you need it then you will need the correct pitch. Also if it is a spare to get you home care an extra set for mounting. I have everything onboard in case I needed to put a prop on as if there was no prop installed.

Makes sense, thumpar. Exactly what am I looking for as far as the correct size? 14"?

Way ahead of you on the other stuff. I was on Amazon and iBoats earlier tonight looking at a spare nut, washer, prop wrench for just such an occasion. My clumsy self may lose a prop nut in the drink when changing on the water so it's important to have a spare! Also going to keep a section of 2x4 to wedge against the cavitation plate!
