will this prop work?

I have a 1978 Evinrude 85HP and in need of a new prop. I researched and for the motor the prop specs are 13.25x15, 13.25x17 or 13x19. I have 13x19.

I can get a 14x19 prop for $50.00. Can I use this prop size, any negative impact?

It will work if it doesn't hit the anti-cavation plate. What are you RPMs at WOT with your current setup?

The guy selling the prop said he had it on his 90HP...not sure if that makes a difference. I do not have a rpm gauge as of yet. Just bought the boat less than month ago. If I were to guestimate with my current setup, the rpm is in the 5K range...

I would bet that 14X19 would fit, I have a 90 evinrude and I can say that 19 pitch would definitely be to much prop for my 18ft Sylvan. I would bet 1 17 pitch would be a better fit, but you really need a tach to fine tune a prop. What prop do you have on it now? A prop has be be banged up pretty bad before it's un-fixable.

The 16' bass boat came with a 13x19 prop. It gets on plane well and runs fast. It does have the hydrofoil, jack plate and power tilt/trim too. The reason I am looking is because a tip of a blade broke off.

If 13x17 is better application then I will have a better holeshot but lose speed. Correct?

More than likely you would have more hole shot and less speed, depends on design of the prop and where your motor is running in it's optimal RPM band. They can fix broken blades, you'd be surprised at what they can do. If a tach is in the future I'd hold on getting a new prop until you find out where you are at. Extra props become expensive garage decorations.

16 ft al. or fiberglass? A 19 may work if it is a fast hull. Some al boats are not particularly fast.I would suggest some test runs with the 19 with a tach and gps.
Would be best to get the prop fixed first. While the foil is effective it is a bandaid that will likely sap some top end.and can cause strange handling sometimes.Better weight distribution, prop selection and/or active or passive trim tabs are a much better choice.

Thanks all for your inputs!

It is a fiberglass fast hull bass boat. I've decided to stay with 13x19 setup since it has been working well. The only reason I would have gotten the 14x19is the cheap price the guy was asking for. Thanks for helping me decide!
