It should work fine. The only problem is safety. You'll have to wire it in so it will only run when the engine is running. Just off of the key is not good enough. A relay off of the charging stator may work. The reason for this would be to prevent a hazard if the engine was tilted up and key turned on. This would result in a fuel spill.
How about a relay off the tach signal? Does that line provide enough voltage to open a small relay? Will the stock fuel pump be fine running with no fuel going through it?
Why not simply rebuild/replace your existing fuel pump with an OEM unit? If your exact fuel pump is NLA, other pressure-pulse pumps wouldn't be hard to adapt. They're common, fairly cheap and easy to replace...<br />- Scott
I plan on moving the fuel tanks to the front of the boat for better weight distributation, and the cost of the electric pump is cheaper than a new pump.
