Will two spindle sizes fit the same hub?

Why are there two spindle sizes so close together? ( 1in and 1, 1/16 in.) I have a one inch spindle on a bent axle that needs to be replaced. The heavier axle that I want to buy only comes with 1 and 1/16 inch spindles. My question is, ?Will this slightly larger spindle fit into the hubs that I have?? The hubs are 5 lugs with no other markings other than a part number.

Can you put a 1-1/16 plug into a 1-inch hole?????????? Of course it won't fit. Spindle sizes are all about axle load capacity. The larger the spindle the more weight it can handle. The bigger the spindle, the larger the wheels and tires must be to handle that capacity. Then of course the springs need to be able to handle the weight as well. There is an off-chance you can buy wheel bearings that have the necessary 1-1/16 bore with races that have same OUTER diameter as the current bearings. Then it work PROVIDED the bearing spacing between the inner and outer bearings is the same for both the 1-inch and 1-1/16 inch spindles. If you clean up the bearings you will find part numbers and manufacturer on both the bearing and race.

In a word, no.
Unless you could find a bearing that fits the new spindle with the same OD as the race in the original hub and the spacing is the same.
Get a new hub/spindle.

If you look at the chart in the stickies at the top of this forum 1" and 1-1/16" bearings use the same size race/cup.

Hmm. If the spacing is the same you could hammer in some new races into the old hub and use the bearing for the 1-1/16 spindle.
