Win 8 Word doc

I copied a bunch of MS Word 2010 doc files from my XP machine to a flash drive and loaded on to my Win 8 machine. I can view the file just fine. I can alter the areas that are outside of the spreadsheet. When I double click on the spreadsheet I get this error message. I have MS Office 2010 on my Win 8 machine.

Also, it's a WPS file that opens with Microsoft Word according to it's Properties....... It's like it doesn't recognize the table.....

Does clicking Help help? Could there be a linked file that's missing in the transfer from the XP machine?

No to the first ?. Even clicked "file" and then Convert for the latest version of Office, no change....

I copied a .doc form(same style file) from XP same issue.

Sounds like an imbedded or linked file is missing. Are you using an Excel spreadsheet for the source data?

In XP it uses Works Word Processor to open the file, in Win 8 it uses Word. We copied and pasted the info from a Works file on XP and created a Word file. Was able to access the table on XP in Word. Transferred it to Win 8, same problem.......

I've done this too and saved it as a Word Document, still doesn't recognize the embedded table. We have Works 8.0
