windows 2000 hot fix???? what is that?

I was checking my friends computer and when I went to un-install some stuff he had, that was not nessecary. <br />Anyways, I saw 29 entries which said "windows2000 hotfix KB885836". <br />Does anyone know what it is and why there would be 29 entries on his computer?<br />Thanks in advance for any help.<br />B.C.

Nothing to be concerned about really, you're looking at 'fixes' (patches to the OS) as MS finds holes in applications or the OS itself.

DO NOT uninstall. These are either fixes or security patches documented at Microsoft by the Knowledge Base articles referenced by the KB number at support.microsoft.com. After an operating system (or Service Pack) is issued, these patches are issued to fix or secure anomalies discovered after the issue. A subsequent Service Pack upgrade to the OS will include these patches as well as others.<br /><br />EDIT: You can run Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and it will tell you of any security patch deficiencies MBSA
