I hope someone can help me, I'm pullikng my hair out.

i"m running windows 7 64 bit on a brand new machine.

I'm trying tt update a rc flight simulator I use to a newer version. I'm getting 2 errors after the 388mb download.

Message 1: could not delete C:\programfiles\onlinecache\%installdir%\realflight.exe.493! File not copied

Message 2 immediatly follows: KEError21014: there was an error copying to c:\programfiles\realflight.exe make sure file is not write protected or in use.

I take this that windows security is blocking the file from being modified. I tried going to the programfiles
\realflight "properties" and sure enough Write protected was checked. So I unchecked and hit apply. I then get a message that I will have to provide administrator permission, "click ok to perform this task" I cloick OK and it performs some quick action with a progress bar.

If i close out the properties box, then reopen it the damn write protection box is checked again!!!!!!! HELP

I tried turning off the User Account Control in control panel and am still having the same issue. Any Ideas?

Re: Windows 7 and write protection

You reboot & before the splash screen you hold the F8 key down.

Or

Start / Run MsConfig / Check Safe Boot / OK / Restart in Safe Mode / Fix what ever then do same steps in safe mode but uncheck the safe boot square / Ok / restart

Safe Mode can install some software that can't be installed any other way because it runs on minimal TSRs & drivers
