Windows 8 tutorial?

I just bought a new Lenovo laptop - 8GB Ram and 750GB HD - for what I think is really good price. ($479.00 - Office Depot)

The only problem (so far) is that it's loaded with Windows 8 and I'm chasing my tail. I can learn it, but trial and error is time-consuming and wasteful. Yet that is what I'm stuck with unless I buy a "Dummies" book - which itself is likely to be time consuming and wasteful.

So here I am, hat in hand, to ask if anyone knows of a decent tutorial for this OS.

Actually if you download a small program called classic Shell, you install it, so you can operate just like windows 7, Classic Shell also includes lots of little things so you can tweek stuff, like the corner and side pop ups, We talked about this a few months ago and there were lots of great information posted.

Virtually everybody I know that has purchased a non-touch laptop has installed this and now are quite happy. Is your Lenovo a touch screen model?

Didn't you go through the tutorial when you first started the machine up? Although it is kind of irritating at first, it isn't that tough to figure out.

No, the unit isn't a touch screen.

No, unfortunately. My son unpacked and started the unit up while I was otherwise engaged. Or maybe that was fortunate!

Anyway, thanks much guys. You've given me a couple of places to start. I know I'll nail it down, but I want to make that process as quick as possible, consistent with effectiveness. Can't stand spending days learning how to save minutes.

When I got mine back in Nov, I know we had a long thread about it, I installed the Shell and turned off the new desktop and went back to a win 7 desktop with start button and have had no problems since, it has been pretty much a seamless move to windows 8.

Yeah, I remember that there was a thread, but a search here for "Windows 8" turned up too much to sift through.

I appreciate the comments on this one though. You guys have helped me.
