Hey guys so I have a 92 bayliner capri just purchased. The windshield makes it very hard to leave the basin where I keep the boat as I must go through a culvert under a highway. The only way I can get out is if i have 4 people and its low tide. If i could put the windshield on hinges or somthing I wouldnt have any problem. Anyone do anything like this? Or have any advice. How are the windshields attached?

The windshields are generally bolted/screwed into the hull directly. There is no "hinging" the windshield. It sounds like you need to either make sure you leave only at low tide, or find a more accessible spot to keep the boat on the other side of the culvert.

If a piano hinge is bottled to the hull and bolted to the windshield why would that not work? I just need to lower the front panels.

Re: Windshield Alterations

From all of the Bayliner Capris I've seen, the side windows/frame is just as high as the forward-facing windshield is. You'd have to put hinges on everything to make it lay down. It would also likely rattle like crazy when in rough water. I don't even know how you would attach the side glass to the front-facing glass without a custom catch/latch. It really sounds like more trouble than it's worth.
