Just got a 1972 Winner Cougar 18' boat with a 90hp Evenrude . Is there anyone out there in cyber-land who owns one or previously owned this model boat and has any documentation from the original manufacturer. I would like to know anything at all about this hull design, prop size and pitch, displacement/weight. Coast Guard capacity and maximum engine size would also be helpful.

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

The question is: Is it a Winner hull or a Cougar hull? If it is a Cougar hull:

Cougar boats was a race builder out of Miami. They are out of business. I own a Cougar Cub. It is a tunnel hull race type 10 footer built for class racing. Nice little boat but it needs complete operator control at all times. Make an error in judgement ant it WILL turn around and bite you in the A** I have had it upside-down on three different occasions. It is a very lightly built hull and needed quite a bit of reenforcement work to bring it into running condition. Floatation also needed to be increased.

I'm sure there is a Cougar site either here at iboats or on the net. I never tried.

Your boat sounds like a Winner Cougar. Here is my 1974 Winner Cougar. I am the third owner. It has a 1974 Chrysler 135 hp outboard. I included a picture of the Coast Guard placard and the boat. So far it seems like a good boat. Here is some interesting info from the hull patent.

Winner was the first to make a boat out of fiberglass. They developed it with Corning, thus the word fiberGLASS.
