Here we go again, a winter weather warning is in effect for my area to the tune of 2-3 feet of snow with 25 mile an hour winds for tonight and tomorrow. I'll (try to) post some photos if it hits us.

Is that all lake-effect stuff you'll be getting? We aren't expecting anything like that, and usually (except for lake snows) 12 hours after you get it we get whacked.

we rarely get lake effect here in Orleans county
(oak orchard river area), but lake erie is 4 deg.
above normal right now and could produce some huge
lake effect in near future.
ps. the 1,000 islands is my fav. place on the planet :D

38 degrees...Lord, what I wouldn't give to be that warm right now. I was out in -15 with wind yesterday morning, not fun. It is a blazing 2 degrees right now. The fun starts tonight when the next snow storm sets in, about 6-12 inches. that doesn't sound impressive until you realize it will be doing this through the weekend so who know how much we will get. We don't get the big 1-2 foot storms once in awhile like New York, we get a million small storms all the time, makes it good for plowing.

What photo?

Kenny, its only 40 here this morning and its a rare thing for us to get much below 50 in the winter months. Since we are completely surrounded by water. the water temp controls our air temp. But, the wind out of the northeast has been howling 20+ mph for two days bringing the temp and wind chill way down.

Saturday is supposed to be nearly 60 again and we'll be fishing. The trout and flounder are turning on in the bay. Last weekend it was 75. Yours truly caught 1 beautiful flounder and 9 trout. :)

LF,

where are the trout/flounder hitting in the bay......I live close to you...I normallly start out in Moses lake, then go through the cut to get into the Bay....Since I have a small boat, I have to be able to get back to a protected area quick if the water gets too rough!

Happy fishing.....

BTW, I'm close to League City!

KeltonKrew, I'd tell ya but I'd have to kill ya. :p

To be honest, we have been fishing the 'brown' water about half way across the bay between Pirates Beach and Greens Cut.

We use the drift anchor to slow us down a bit. When we get to the end of the brown water, we circle around and set up for another drift. We anchored up for a couple of hours and didn't seem to do as well. We saw a bunch of boats fishing the Greens Cut area but we were doing so good where we were we stayed put.

Hail us "Emma Too" on the radio if you are fishing in the area on Saturday and maybe we can hook up. Right now the forecast is upper 50's low 60's winds under 10. Unless that changes, we will be out there.

Re: winter fun, round two

I won't be fishin this weekend (or many more to come)...My boat is up at the lake now (I'm going to get it on Sunday and bring it home).

I will be stripping it down completely, re-gelcoating the outside of the hull, making a new cc and spraying ultra-tuff inside...... I've been putting it off for over a year now (didn't want to be w/out it) but I finally have to do it as it is too ugly. (I have to wear camo so people don't see me in it :D )

Good luck and hope you get on the trout and flounder!
