If properly winterized, how long can a boat sit before it starts to deteriorate. Years?

What parts tend to go first?

At how many years of storage do you?the prospective buyer?begin to get nervous about a boat?s lack of use? Do you still anticipate a turn-key situation if a previously well maintained boat has been in long term storage?

My old glastron sat for about 5 years before I picked it up, I put new fuel in it and it started up fine but my starter and alternator when out quickly afterwards but that could have had something to do with the age of the boat as well. Also whatever they used to seal around the outdrive had dried and cracked pretty bad.

If a boat is properly stored, it could be kept indefinitely.

Clean and dry, kept in a clean, cool and dry environment, properly covered to kept "things" out but still breathable, fluids changed, etc.

IMO, boats are very rarely stored properly.

The rubber parts may deteriorate some as well. If you are not careful a mouse could eat your bellows.:D
