I have the factory manual and it does not show the location or amount of drain plugs. I have a seawater cooled model. Can someone tell me how many there are and their locations. HELP:)

2006 model, you should have a big blue knob at the front of the engine, slightly port of centre, called a 'single point drain', unscrew that knob (CCW) and water should come pouring out of the bottom of the water manifold directly below that knob. You didn't say carby or MPI, but you also need to look on the underside of the water inlet hose for a further drain point, port side of the engine, under the exhaust manifold. It should be a small blue plastic plug, unscrew....

HTH,

It's a real problem to tell someone exactly how to drain thier engine without a lot of info, much of it not even shown with the serial number of the engine.

MPI or Carb - Single point, or Multi point drain - engine mounted raw water pump or pump in outdrive - fuel cooler or not?

If you are un-lucky enough to have a single point drain system like Chris has, you will have to remove each hose from the block, manifold, cooler or whatever it's hooked to and make sure the hole isn't plugged up.

Or move to a warmer climate. :D :D :D :D

Re: Winterize 2006 MCM 4.3ltr where are the drain plugs

I appreciate the reply. Mine is carburated and does not have the big blue knob on top. The only visible blue plug is on the lower starboard side. There is not an engine mounted raw water pump or fuel cooler. There is a plug on the bottom of each of the exaust manifolds. Those are the only three that I have found. Also I have power steering and cannot find the power steering cooler. Tks

Should be one on each side of the block, one on each manifold, follow the power steering hoses from the pump or the steering cylinder they will go to the cooler. Usually just pull a hose from it and let it drain.
You also need to remove the large diameter hose from the engine circulation pump and drain it.

Re: Winterize 2006 MCM 4.3ltr where are the drain plugs

I have now found one under each exaust manifold. One on each side of the block and one on the lower port side for the water pump and large hose from the thermostat housing. I cannot see or track the hoses from the power steering pump to track it to the cooler and my mecury service manual does not show me the location of the cooler. Anyone know where it is, a picture would really help. Thanks for your help.

Not sure where exactly yours is located. Locate the water hose that comes from the outdrive and goes to the thermostat housing. It's in that hose somewhere.

I found the power steering cooler. On my egine it is on the very rear of the engine. Is there anything else that you know of that would need to winterized. Ron
