I used some $6 Slick Stuff from Ace Hardware; non-greasy, non waxy, and is working, for engine exterior.

Does it dry like a clear coating? I might have to try that next winter. I misted my engine exterior with crc fogging spray.So far no rust....

dries clear, a little opaque; tested it on a 15 inch saw blade in the summer; no rust and not sticky to the touch.
