Normally I have my engine winterized & annual service at same time ... for a number of reasons (mainly snow related) it still isn't done.

I had fully drained the block via the 5 blue plugs ... boat is on trailer also under cover in it's own boat shed.

As this delay is on-going .... perhaps I should put in anti-freeze.
I assume leaving block with nothing in it could accelerate corrosion.

I can run up engine on muffs to get it warm, should I then simply run it in a container of 50:50 antifreeze ??

Or shall I not bother to run it up and instead fill from engine .... ?? if the latter, can somebody tell me what hose(s) I should remove to pour in the mix ?

Engine is 2007 (carb) 4.3L Mercruiser.
It is raw water cooled (without air assist drain)

Ayuh,... Has it been below Freezing over there yet,..??

I'd pull the Big hose off the circulating pump, 'n drain the P/S Cooler,.....
Then call it Good...

Air just Don't Freeze.....

Been around -5 (23F)at night for past 4 weeks ..

I did get engine hot, with 'salt-away' injector, then drained all 5 blue plugs ..

I'm sure I can find circulaing pump hose ...is the p/s cooler obvious ? .... I'll admit to not knowing where it is.

Boat is bow up, (well up) and drive is down.

Remember what Benny Hill says happens when you assume?:D Rust needs moisture and a continuous supply of oxygen. If you drain and put the plugs back in you cut off the oxygen supply and limit rusting. If you got all the water out, I would not fool around with the AF. Besides if you are talking about a 50:50 mix of automotive antifreeze you will have a toxic (not to mention illegal) mess in the spring, if you do use AF use pink RV stuff. Just my opinion. Good luck.
