Winterizing 1996 Mariner 100hp

I need help : If anyone can tell me how to winteriz my motor. I have done this once and ihave read some information on adding antifreeze.<br />Is this safe for the motor, and how to you to this and whats the best product.<br />1996 Mariner 100hp

You do not need anti freeze. If the engine is stored vertically, it is self draining. Drain the lower unit and refill it with fresh lub. This is critical if the engine is stored where temps can get below freezing. Any water in the lower unit can freeze and crack the housing. Fog the engine using any of the available fogging oils. Either run it dry of fuel, or treat the fuel and run it long enough (in the water or on muffs) to ensure the treated fuel gets to the carbs. Put 'er to bed. You can extract the fuel in the tank and use it in your car or truck. Be sure to add fuel stabilizer if you leave fuel in the tank.

Here is what i do.<br />1.Near the end of the season i add seafoam to the gas and estimate how much gas there is in the tank and add the correct amount of oil to get a 25:1 mix.( I have an EFI motor so i dont fog).Flush motor on garden hose.<br />2.Change lower unit lube.<br />3.New- spark plugs,water sep. filter,bleed line filter.When changing plugs i add about a tablespoon of oil down the plug hole.<br />4.Grease all fittings.<br />5.Trim motor all the way down.<br />6. Remove all batteries and store in basement ...charge evry three months
