Hello. I am planning to winterize my 70 h.p. Chrysler outboard motor 1979 and have never done it myself before. What are the steps I should follow? Do I need to fog the engine and if I do, where do I spray it, what kind of chemical do I use? Also, is mercuric acid necessary to clean the hull and is it damaging to grass or pavement if I use it to clean the hull outside . I was reading some of your articles and it said you must add fuel stabalizer and run it through the engine and disconnect the fuel line . So, some stabalized fuel will be present in the engine? Is it okay to leave it like that? Do I need to add antifreeze and where ? Also, do I need to change my spark plugs? Do I need to drain the oil and refill it with new oil and leave it in the engine for the winter?
Thank you for your help.

I just want to ad 2 things.

1- The most important of these steps is to change the oil in the gearcase. If the gearcase has leaked and allowed water to enter, the water will freeze and crack the gearcase. You need to get the old oil out.

2-Remove the battery and keep it in a convenient place, so you can charge it up every 3 to 4 weeks.
