I'm a new (used) boat owner and I'm trying to winterize it and can't figure out what the manual is talking about!
I've changed the gear oil, changed the motor oil, pulled 4 drain plugs, pulled the hoses off the impeller and the thermostat, rotated the impeller, and then put it all back together again.
But I have no idea what this is talking about: "(rear of engine) Disconnect the water discharge hose, lower to the rear of the block, blow out water by applying air to the by-pass hose."
The instruction above is taken directly out of volvo's engine manual for my engine. The picture is terrible and I don't know where this hose is. I blew through the by-pass hose anyways and it feels totally clear. Is that good enough? If not, where is this hose?
Also, it has instructions for an oil cooler, but it sounds like an option. Do I have an oil cooler? What does it look like? Where is it?
My boat is a 1999 Cobalt 190 with a Volvo Penta 5.0 Gi and an SX outdrive.
Any help is appreciated, and ASAP would be GREAT b/c freezing weather is coming this weekend.
