Thx Bayrider.

Just to re-cap, because I have a closed cooling system I only have to remove plugs in heat exchanger? Besides changing oil in outdrive I don't have to do anything else to it? All other details are pretty straight forward and typical of winterizing/summerizing or storing anything.

Thanks. Steve

Re: Winterizing merc. 170

Steve, I have a 470, for the last two seasons I have hooked up a 5gal bucket with a hose out of the bottom on muffs. Elevate the bucket filled with pink environmental friendly AF and put muffs on outdrive start and pump through system until AF comes out back.
Seems to have worked for our Michigan winters.
I also fog the engine just before the AF runs out of bucket.

Well its a new official record. August 11th is now the earliest I have seen a winterizing question. Gee whiz don't people just enjoy their boats without worrying about every little thing?

Does your AF trick work on boats with raw water cooling? Is it okay to do that instead of pulling all of the drain plugs?
