Hi,

Can anyone tell me if STA-BIL is ok for adding to a gas tank for a 30 hp Johnson. It says on the bottle for all 2 cycle engines but normally I like to use marine products.I cant find the OMC fuel conditioner locally. I may use the boat occasionally this winter for steelhead fishing. I havent done anything else to the boat since I plan on using it other than keep my batteries pluged in to the onboard charger. I store it in the garage. (Normally I fog it) Will this work. I live near Rochester, NY and the temps get below freezing quite often. Thanks much in advance. Bob

Re: winterizing question

bob, stabil is fine for your gas tank. follow instructions on the bottle. should use it if your engine will sit idle for more than a month. keep your engine trimmed down even when its in the garage. take care-

Re: winterizing question

Robert, The product 'Stabil"is even recommended by the outboard service shops where I live. It's good stuff. To insure that it gets distributed throughout fuel system ,including carb ports and orifices ,I recommend running engine for a few minutes after adding recommended dose to fuel tank.Since temperatures get below freezing where your boat is stored ,one thing I would recommend to do is assure you have no water or emulsification in lower unit by draining and changing.
