I own a recently rebuilt 1997 Johnson 175 HP OceanRunner. Since it still has less than 10 hour on it, the gas to oil ratio is still at 25 to 1.

Here is what i want to do to winterize it.

First, i will stabilize the fuel system.

Second, I will defog the engine. I was told to first spray the solution into the carb's, then turn the engine off, remove the spark plugs and shoot inside the plug cylinders & turn the engine over (w/out the plugs)?

Does this sound right to you? Also, since my engine has an aluminum head how long should I wait for the engine to cool off before I remove the plugs (one time I removed a plug from a hot head and I stripped the cylinder head)!

Please advise.

Thanks,

Peter

PS At the end I will also remove the battery and electronics.
