I LIVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA I HAVE A 2000 CARAVELLE WITH A 4.3 190HP MERCRUSIER. EACH YEAR I HAVE DONE THE WINTERIZING MYSELF AND STORED THE BOAT ON SHORE IN A STORAGE UNIT. i HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS TILL THIS YEAR I PULLED THE BOAT OUT AND GOT IT READY FOR THE WATER, WENT OUT AND FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS CRACKED. I TOOK THE BOAT TO THE MECHANIC AND OF COURSE FOUND THAT IT WAS FROM FREEZE DAMAGE. I DRAINED EVERYTHING THE SAME AS I DID EVERY YEAR. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE DRAIN TO BE CLOGGED OR FOR SOMEONE TO PUT WATER BACK INTO THE ENGINE(I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH SOMEONE VANDALIZING THE BOAT IN THE PAST).

Re: WINTERIZING

very possable it all did not drain. if you just drain a engine you should run a wire up every drain to make sure dirt/rust/dead fish/junk did not plug the drain this is real bad in shallow/ soft bottoms or people that beach there boat and let it run w/drive down for long peroids of time.<br />should back flush with anti freeze pull hoses from t- stat housing and back flush till it comes out drain plug holes and out the vents on drive then you are 100% good to go. sorry for the bad luck A.D.
