Hello

This is the first year I have owned a boat. I was wandering if there is a special way to winterize a 3.8 bolted to a cobra drive.

Thanks stormy

Re: Winterizing

There's an excellent thread on winterizing in the FAQ's section; http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158078

Once you read it, you will understand just how much time and care is required to properly protect your investment from the evil forces of nature. Many will warn you and insist you to take it to a shop, but it you are a meticulous person and mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. Having said that, you can decide for yourself after reading the posts. Good luck!

Re: Winterizing

The marine down the road winterizes mine and last year there was water left in my oil cooler and it split it. The last owner must of had the same problem because they j.b welded it. Not sure if this is common but I am taking it off this year to prevent it from happening again. I had a buddy fix it but a new one is not cheap. Any one know if this is common?

It's common for any mechanic who doesn't know how to winterize properly. Find another mechanic or do it yourself.
