Could this be why I have no power and it stalls and dies over 2500 rpms or that i can just idle around and not psut the throttle more then ahlf throttle before it dies. I just found out the wires were crossed on the altenator
the purple wire that goes to the coil and the wire that goes to the the ignition were worng on the back of the altanator i did not think it made a difference but i will try it and see if it helps. I thought on the back of the alt they are both positive but I have 4 contacts 1 neg 2 orange to the starter 3 red/purple the ignition switch 4 purple to the pos coil could that be the problem lack power and causing the motor to cut off at 2000 rpm and above
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I Doubt It......

It Sounds allot More like a Fuel System Issue....

Fuel pressure Should be 5/6psi at the carb inlet.....

Reading your other posts, I suspect the "High-speed Circuit" in your carb is Not working propperly......

Seasprite:
It may not be your problem, but about 20 years ago, I had an OMC Chevy V-8 that had very similar symptoms.
It turned out to be a tachometer with a short in it. When the ignition system put out more of a signal at higher rpm's, it went to ground. Shut off the engine immediately. It would restart immediately, but not run much over idle before it would do it again. Disconnecting the tach solved the problem. Buying a new tach corrected the problem. Might be worth taking the wire off the tach to check.

Charles
